Coordination underway to repatriate Vietnamese citizens in India

(VOVWORLD) - At a meeting in Hanoi on Thursday, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Deputy Spokesperson Doan Khac Viet talked about Vietnam’s citizen protection in India and some Southeast Asian countries.

Viet said amid complications of the COVID-19 pandemic in India and some Southeast Asian countries, the Foreign Ministry has asked Vietnam’s representative offices in these countries to prepare plans to protect Vietnamese citizens, work closely with agencies in the resident countries to update the development of the pandemic, and pay attention to disadvantaged Vietnamese citizens. Vietnam’s rep agencies overseas have regularly updated the situation on their official websites and asked Vietnamese citizens to practice disease prevention measures as requested by the resident country, said Viet.

Regarding flights to bring Vietnamese people in India back home, Viet said the Foreign Ministry and Vietnam’s representative agencies in India are working closely with relevant local agencies and airlines to arrange flights to repatriate Vietnamese citizens in necessary cases.
