Russia is recording 5,200 new COVID-19 cases per day, compared to 4,200 in France and 1,900 in Germany.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the closure of pubs and bars in 'Tier 3' areas – like Liverpool – where the numbers of cases is highest and the coronavirus is spreading most rapidly.

The World Health Organization’s chief warned Monday that it’s unethical to allow the virus to spread in the hope of achieving so-called herd immunity.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus cautioned against calls in some countries to let COVID-19 run its course until enough people develop the immunity needed to naturally halt its spread.

Never in the history of public health has herd immunity been used as a strategy for responding to an outbreak, the WHO chief said, calling it “scientifically and ethically problematic.”
