Participants said Vietnam’s success containing the virus has protected people’s health and gained foreign investors’ trust. But the pandemic has severely affected the economy.

They recommended short-term and long-term solutions to restore and develop the economy. Skira Shimizu, JICA Chief Representative in Vietnam, said after the pandemic, supply chains have been diversified. Because Vietnam has contained the pandemic, it should grasp the opportunities to introduce policies for inclusive and sustainable growth.

The delegates proposed that policies should be more specific such as easing credit conditions and reducing or exempting interest rates, taxes, fees, social insurance, and other infrastructure fees.

The conference was co-organized by the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, the National Assembly’s Economic Committee, the National University of Economics, the Asian Development Bank, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
