COVID-19 in Vietnam: New infections drop on 1st day of new lunar year

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam recorded 11,023 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, the first day of the Year of the Tiger. The figure represents a decrease of 1,700 cases against the previous day. 

Hanoi continued to record the highest number of infections with 2,705 cases, followed by Da Nang with 783 and Hai Phong with 496. 

The national tally reached 2,286,750, including 185 infections of Omicron.

39,608 patients were given the all-clear the same day, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,062,058.  

By Monday, the country had injected over 181 million doses of vaccines. More than 74 million people have now been fully inoculated.
