(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has applauded the Vietnamese people’s compliance with social distancing and other recommended measures to combat Covid-19.

At a cabinet meeting in Hanoi on Monday, the Prime Minister asked officials to remain vigilant on existing solutions to curb the coronavirus from spreading although the number of new cases has plummeted over the past two days.
“We have to better prepare field hospitals to deal with the worst scenario. Local authorities must ensure social distancing to prevent coronavirus transmission,” said the Prime Minister.
Mr. Phuc said the Government will soon work out a plan on the production of respirators.
Cabinet members discussed a social welfare package for vulnerable people, who are strongly affected by the pandemic. They touched upon details of who, when, and how support will be offered.
The Prime Minister said he plans to host a meeting with local authorities this weekend to discuss solutions to tackle business difficulties, promote disbursement of public investment, and ensure security.
Vietnam reported 4 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, bringing the country’s total to 245.
