At a conference in Hanoi on Wednesday, the Bank’s Director General Duong Quyet Thang said current policy credit programs have made a difference.

Tran Minh Tam, representative of the Kim Hoa communal People’s Committee in Tra Vinh province elaborated on how much the credit programs mean to locals: “Thanks to policy credits, the lives of Khmer people in the commune have improved. 145 families have escaped poverty. 94 households have managed to build new houses. Khmer people have become less reliant on the government, and now know how to raise cows and pigs and increase crop yields.”

Truong Thi Mai, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization, said: “We should continue working to improve the quality of life by providing advice and transferring technology. Policy credits support sustainable poverty reduction.”
