(VOVWORLD) - The first full rehearsal for the parade marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2) took place at Ba Dinh Square, Hanoi on Thursday evening.

The event drew thousands of people eagerly filling the roads surrounding Ba Dinh Square. Along the roads, groups of people of all ages lined the sidewalks, waiting in anticipation for the moment the powerful formations of troops would march past to the sound of stirring military music.
Ms Hoa, a local resident said: “I came early, but when I arrived, it was already packed with people. Everyone was so enthusiastic that I forgot all about being tired. I put aside my work today just to be here”
Since midday, traffic police, local police, and military personnel had been deployed to direct traffic and secure the area. Meanwhile, the parade formations and motorized units were mobilized in an orderly, large-scale display.
Nguyen Thuy Linh, a young participant in the parade, said: “I feel deeply honored and proud to contribute my small part to the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day. We are moved and determined to do our best.”
