Cuba and the US continue normalization discussion

(VOVworld) -  The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Wednesday the two countries will hold a 4th meeting of the Bilateral Commission this Friday in Washington to confirm agreements made in previous sessions and map out new steps for 2016.

This will be the last such negotiation in the tenure of Barack Obama. At a press conference, Gustavo Machin, Deputy Director for US Affairs of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, said the session will discuss upcoming high-ranking visits, technical issues, ratifying new cooperative agreements, and future dialogues. 
Josefina Vidal, Director for the US Affairs of the Cuban Foreign Ministry said the Cuban delegation will stress the need to lift the trade embargo, return Cuban territory occupied by the US navy at Guantanamo, and end the preferential immigration policy for Cuban citizens and other policies detrimental to Cuba.
