While assessing one year of re-establishing bilateral relations, Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the two sides have seen great progress in cooperation in various areas. The Ministry said Washington’s removal of a half-a-century-long embargo on Havana was necessary to normalize ties. Cuba spoke highly of President Obama’s effort to loosen trade restrictions but said there still remain limitations. Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said despite differences, the two countries would draw on mutual respect as a good foundation on which to build a strong relationship that will benefit the two governments and their peoples.
