Death toll from Pakistani air crash rises to 80

(VOVWORLD) - At least 80 people were killed as a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane with 99 passengers and crew onboard crashed in the southern port city of Karachi on Friday, officials and local media said.

Two passengers survived, a Sindh provincial government spokesman said. PIA plane number PK 8303, carrying 91 passengers and 8 crew members, suffered a technical failure while landing on the Jinnah international airport in Karachi city on Friday. The plane crashed into a resident area near the airport.

Pakistani Prime Minsiter Imran Khan said Friday that urgent measures will be carried out to handle the consequences and investigate the accident’s cause. Sindh provincial chief Imran Ismail said he is worried as the accident area is very crowded. Rescuers are finding the plane black boxes to identify the accident’s cause.
