Defeating Thailand, Vietnam in contention for a Women’s World Cup 2023 place
(VOVWORLD) -The Vietnamese women football team had a 2-0 win over the Thais in Women’s World Cup 2023 play-off round on Wednesday in Mumbai, India.

Coach Mai Duc Chung and his players brought joy to Vietnamese fans on the second day of the lunar year. Huynh Nhu scored the first goal for Vietnam at the 19th minute and just five minutes later, Thai Thi Thao doubled the score.
Vietnam will play Chinese Taipei on Sunday in the second play-off match for the 2023 World Cup berth.
A 1-3 defeat to China in the quarterfinals of Women's Asian Cup 2022 on Sunday cost Vietnam a direct ticket to the Women’s World Cup 2023.
Women's Asian Cup 2022 underway in India from January 20 to February 6 serves as qualification for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand next year.
