Deputy PM calls for UNDP support in future disease response

(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has hailed outgoing UNDP Resident Representative Caitlin Wiesen for her contributions to helping Vietnam promote socio-economic development and international integration.

During a reception in Hanoi on Friday,  Mr. Dam said the Vietnamese Government values the support of UNDP and Ms. Wiesen for Vietnam, especially during the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said he hopes UNDP will continue to work with the World Health Organization and other international partners to strengthen grassroots healthcare and preventive medicine to help Vietnam improve its readiness to respond to future diseases.

Wiesen promised to contribute more to the relations between Vietnam and the UNDP in the framework of the Country Program until 2026.
