(VOVworld)- Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh has just concluded his official visit to the US from February 8th, which opened up opportunities for the two countries. Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son who accompanied the Deputy PM during the visit told a VOV correspondent in the US about major outcomes: “First, the visit conveys a clear message to American politicians and businesspeople that Vietnam continues comprehensive reforms, proactively integrates into the world, pursue its foreign policy of independence, self-determination, multilateralization and diversification of relations and deepens cooperative ties with other countries, including the US. Second, from this year Vietnam renews its growth model and restructures the economy that American companies view as great potential for bilateral cooperation. Third, in the context of global economic recession, the US needs to work with Vietnam to remove trade barriers for Vietnamese exported goods such as fish, steel tubes and utility scale wind towers. I believe that both countries’ potentials will be further tapped in the future”.

Deputy FM Son said the visiting delegation worked with leaders from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, who spoke highly of Vietnam’s efforts to curb inflation and maintain reasonable growth. Deputy PM Vu Van Ninh and American leaders also exchanged views on specific measures to lift bilateral ties to a new height.
