Representatives from the Ministry of Public Security, Health, Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs presented basic contents of the Law o Drug Prevention and Control and related decrees, which will take effect on January 1, 2022. The Law prioritizes resources for drug prevention and control in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, remote and isolated areas, islands, border areas and complicated drug-related areas. It also consists of new regulations on the management of drug addicts.

Deputy Prime Minister Dam said drug prevention and control should be implemented drastically because it leads to other crimes.

It’s a task of not only the police force, border guard, health care, and labor sectors, but also of the courts, judicial agencies, and social organizations to campaign, prevent, and discipline the addicts. Recently, the regular forces have strengthened their role at the grassroots level. It is necessary to further promote their key role under the direction of the local Party Committee and government,” Mr. Dam said.
