In the four intense days since new outbreaks occured, the situation in Hai Duong’s Chi Linh city has basically been controlled and the number of daily infections is decreasing. Hai Duong’s two field hospitals have received more than 150 patients, and another hospital is about to be opened in Chi Linh.

In Quang Ninh’s Dong Trieu town, Mr. Dam praised the efforts of local officials and public cooperation with tracing and isolation measures.

Deputy PM Dam said he believes that, with the rapid and drastic measures being implemented, the epidemic will be under control before the Lunar New Year.

“If the outer perimeter is effective, the outbreak can be quickly contained. Hai Duong authorities have promised to contain the epidemic in 10 days. Six days are left. Quang Ninh officials have said the epidemic will also be under control there in six days,” said Mr. Dam.

On Monday morning, Vietnam reported two new cases of COVID-19 in Hanoi, bringing the national tally to 1,819.
