Deputy PM updates US firms on Vietnam’s economic policies

(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue met with US enterprises during his visit to the US from Monday to Wednesday to introduce Vietnam’s external and macro-economic policies, economic reform, and investment attraction mechanisms.

Addressing a talk held by the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) on Tuesday, he said Vietnam and the US are sharing interests in a peaceful, stable, and prosperous environment in the region with maritime and aviation freedom, security and safety being respected.

The same day, Mr Hue and members of the US-ASEAN Business Council discussed Vietnam’s policies on cyber security, bank liquidation, automobile importation, and agricultural products licensing. He said Vietnam will continue to enhance its business environment and promises favorable conditions and a fair market for US companies. Mr. Hue said Vietnam is committed to international law and welcomes foreign businesses with assurances of consumer protection and national security. Vietnam will consider business proposals from major US companies like Exxon Mobil, Murphy Oil, VISA, Nike, Coca-Cola, and AES, he said.

The US enterprises said Vietnam is an active, high-potential market, and they want to increase investment and business in the country.
