At a meeting with CEO of Samsung Vietnam Choi Joo Ho on Monday in Hanoi, Deputy Prime Minister Ha asked foreign businesses, including Samsung Vietnam, to continue to work out practical recommendations to immediately solve problems in the process of implementing the direct electricity trading mechanism towards Vietnam's electricity market operating according to a full market mechanism.

In the coming time, Samsung Vietnam needs to continue to pay attention and invest in research, development and transfer centers for new industries such as semiconductor chips, he said.

Reporting to the Deputy Prime Minister on the business results of Samsung Vietnam, CEO Choi said that Samsung now has six manufacturing factories, one research and development center with accumulated investment capital totaling 22.8 billion USD. Export turnover from January  to July 2024 reached 33.5 billion USD, up 5% over the same period.

Mr. Choi said that Samsung Vietnam wishes to increase the rate of using electricity from renewable energy for production at reasonable prices and costs, contributing to delivering Vietnam's net zero commitment by 2050.
