(VOVWORLD) - The national environmental protection plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, focuses on respecting natural laws and promoting a sustainable growth model built on a green, circular, and low-carbon economy in order to minimize waste and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, said Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Le Cong Thanh.

Mr. Thanh was speaking at a hybrid ceremony on Friday to announce the launch of the new plan, which sets out to prevent and bring environmental pollution and degradation under control; to restore and improve environmental quality; and to prevent environmental decline but also enhance biodiversity, so that everyone can live in a healthy environment.
The plan also aims to establish protected areas and conserve nature and biodiversity, while developing a sustainable socio-economic model following green, circular, and low-carbon economy principles, harmonizing with nature and being environmentally friendly, and proactively responding to climate change.
Deputy Minister Thanh called on ministries, sectors, localities, communities, and every individual must get involved, so that the plan can be implemented effectively and efficiently, meets deadlines, “yields results and quality, and contributes to developing green spaces, achieving a good balance between socio-economic development and environmental protection, improving people’s quality of life, as well as meeting Vietnam’s sustainable development goals.”
