DOC determines Vietnam shrimp exporters not engaged in dumping

(VOV) – Defendants in the US anti-dumping suit against shrimp exporters will enjoy a zero percent tax rate from February 1, 2011, to January 31, 2012. A preliminary decision was recently made by the US Department of Commerce (DOC), the first time in the history of DOC deliberations that they have officially said that Vietnamese shrimp exporters are not engaged in dumping activities. According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), the decision will open up greater prospects for Vietnamese shrimp businesses. Despite rescinding its anti-dumping tariffs, the US still pursues its anti-subsidy lawsuit against Vietnam and several other countries.

The US surpassed Japan to become the largest importer of Vietnamese shrimp in January this year, achieving 37 percent growth compared to the same period last year.
