Draft amended Civil Procedure Code debated

(VOVworld) – On Monday the National Assembly discussed amendments to the Civil Procedure Code which is said to have concretized many regulations of the 2013 Constitution and the Law on the Organization of People’s Courts.

Deputies said the bill should clarify conditions on proceedings and procedures in different periods of trials.

Lawmakers also underlined the need to reform the organization of a trial and specify the position, the rights and accountability of persons concerned.

Deputy Nguyen Minh Lam from Long An province said: “I think we should keep regulations of the 2011 amended Civil Procedure Code because the presence of representatives of people’s procuracy at a civil trial or meeting aims to ensure that the court’s judicial performance will be conducted properly. This draft clarifies the duty of people concerned to show evidence if required. The persons concerned in many civil cases did not work with the court, causing difficulties in collecting evidence. In case the person concerned evades his responsibility and fails to cooperate, he should face any consequences according to the court’s ruling.”
