(VOVworld) – A project on settling flood-tide affected by climate change was launched in Lotus port, district7, Ho Chi Minh City, on Sunday, by the municipal People’s Committee and Trung Nam group.

The 10,000 billion VND (450 million USD) project will be completed after 36 months. It is aimed at controlling flood tide and adapting to climate change on a 570km2 area with a population of 6.5 million people on the right bank of the Sai Gon river and the city’s downtown. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc addressed the project launching ceremony: “Science and technology related to surveys and designs are important for projects on dealing with climate change. I ask Ho Chi Minh City’s authority to work harder on designs and planning and invite experts’ participation”.

On Sunday morning, Prime Minister Phuc attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the second branch of Ho Chi Minh City’s Tumor hospital in Tan Phu ward, district 9. This is one the key projects of the city with an investment capital of nearly 270 million USD and it will begin operation by the end of 2017.
