The delegates discussed the importance of the East Sea from the international law and relations perspective, interests of involved parties, and recent developments on the East Sea.  They put forward recommendations for directly or indirectly involved nations to enhance cooperation, prevent and control maritime disputes. The delegates suggested research channels for better communication with the public and leaders’ decision making. Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, President of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam says: "The East Sea has the most complicated disputes in the world. The complexity has soared due to internal developments in many countries, and the regional and global economic, political, military, and security changes. In addition to traditional disputes over islands and marine areas, non-traditional problems such as piracy, sea pollution, natural resources degradation, and climate change have become more serious. We need to exert more effort and find more effective solutions to bring study results and policies in to life."

The conference is organized by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and the Vietnam Lawyers’ Association.
