Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper elected President of Vietnam Journalists Association

(VOVWORLD) - More than 550 delegates representing more than 27,000 members nationwide attended the 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association for the 2020-2025 term in Hanoi on Friday.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong,  President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue sent congratulatory flower baskets.

Speaking at the Congress, permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Vo Van Thuong said the cause of national construction and defense is entering a new stage of development, requiring the Vietnamese Revolutionary press and the Vietnam Journalists Association to fulfill heavy and glorious tasks on the way forward. The press must continue to innovate itself, truly becoming an accurate, timely, powerful, influential and more responsible channel of information in society, he said.

The Congress elected 52 members to the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association. Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper and Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, was elected by the Congress as President of the Association.
