Egypt: Violence increases prior to Presidential election

(VOVworld) – At least 2 Muslim protesters were killed and 23 people were injured in clashes on Friday between security forces and supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi.

The clashes took place on the final day of campaigning ahead of next week’s presidential election. In Al-Matarya district, northern Cairo, one person was killed and 20 others injured after civilians fired guns into Muslim protesters. Meanwhile, a Muslim protester died and 3 others were injured in clashes between police and supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood in Fayoum province.

The same day, Muslim factors held a score of protests and marches nationwide. In Omraneya district, Giza province, protesters clashed with local residents. In Haram district, tens of protesters marched, shouted slogans against the army. Unidentified guys carried out a bomb attack on gas pipe from Sinai peninsula to Israel.
