EU agrees to extend Brexit

(VOVWORLD) - Members of the EU agreed on Wednesday to postpone Brexit, whose deadline had been next Thursday.

27 EU ambassadors agreed to an extension in principle, but for how long is still under discussion. France wants an extension of less than three months. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has insisted that he does not want to delay Brexit, but European Council President Donald Tusk recommends extending Brexit at least until January 31.

On Wednesday, Labor Party leader Jeremy Corbyn met with Prime Minister Johnson to discuss a new timetable for passing a Brexit bill.
