EU countries tighten measures to contain COVID-19

(VOVWORLD) - The German State Health Ministry on Friday decided to set up free coronavirus testing centres at all German airports, to curb the risk of a second wave of COVID-19 infections sparked by returning travelers from high-risk countries. All other travelers arriving from “no-risk” countries will receive free testing from local medical centers.

Starting from next Saturday, France will impose COVID-19 tests on travelers arriving from 16 "red zone" countries where the coronavirus circulates rapidly including the US, Brazil, India, and South Africa. If found to be infected, they will be required to remain in quarantine for 14 days. 

The Norwegian Government announced on Friday that it will reimpose, starting Saturday midnight, ten days quarantine for all travelers from Spain after a rebound in cases in recent days, while Italy will impose 14-day quarantine for arrivals from Bulgaria and Romania.

The Czech Republic announced that from Saturday midnight, wearing face masks will be mandatory at some indoor public gatherings.
