The move came amid escalating tension between Greece and Turkey when Turkey deployed surveying vessel Oruc Reis in eastern Mediterranean Sea in August. Turkey halted the vessel’s operation in early October, saying Turkey had not fortified its sovereignty over the region’s natural resources. Oruc Reis’ operation was resumed on October 14.
