EU governments agree renewable energy targets for 2030

(VOVWORLD) - EU countries have already agreed on a new renewable energy target of at least 27% of final energy consumption as a whole by 2030 as part of the bloc’s energy and climate goals.

In a Monday meeting in Brussels, European Union environment and energy ministers agreed on the share of renewable fuels to be used in transport, while setting a cap on first-generation biofuels, which critics say compete for agricultural land with food.
