(VOVworld) – Demands and opportunities for energy infrastructure development in ASEAN were the theme of a talk on Thursday between Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Cuong and other ASEAN ambassadors with Fred Hochberg, President of the US’s Export-Import Bank (Eximbank). Their discussion also covered future implementation of the initiative called “US-Asia Pacific Comprehensive Partnership for a Sustainable Energy Future”, adopted by US President Barrack Obama and ASEAN leaders at a summit in Phnom Penh last November.

Cuong and the other ASEAN ambassadors hope the initiative will boost US-ASEAN cooperation in managing production and energy consumption in ASEAN. The Bank’s managing board said Vietnam has been given priority among ASEAN members with lots of cooperation projects in 2013.
