(VOVworld) - The United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) considers Vietnam a successful model in agricultural development, rural modernization, poverty reduction, and national food security. FAO Director General Jose Graziano da Silva told Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat in Rome, on Wednesday, that Vietnam is a role model for developing countries to follow in the global threats of climate change and food insecurity. He urged Vietnam to share its experience via the South-South cooperation framework. Silva said he will step up cooperation with Vietnam to help it achieve the UN millennium development goals.
Their meeting followed the 8th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting (ASEP-8). Minister Phat, as the main speaker of Vietnam and Asia in the discussion themed “Sustainable growth and Food security”, delivered a speech highlighting Vietnam’s achievements in agricultural development, poverty reduction, and food security.
