(VOVWORLD) - Eight countries and five cities along with dozens of craft villages and production facilities across Vietnam are introducing their products at the fifth Vietnam-International Silk and Brocade Festival.

The participating countries at the 2-day event which opened on Thursday in Hoi An silk village in central province of Quang Nam include Italy, France, Japan, India, Thailand and Cambodia.

The event honors the traditional silk weaving craft and introduces Vietnamese silk to the international market.

In Son La province, a culture, sports and tourism festival of ethnic groups in the northwestern region will take place from next Sunday, involving eight localities.

The 3-day event is set to feature a string of activities including a photo exhibition depicting local culture and tourism, an ethnic costume show, sports games, and art performances.
