A festive spirit is sweeping across the country, especially in the capital. In central areas such as Ba Dinh Square, the pedestrian zone around Hoan Kiem Lake, and the main parade routes, banners, slogans, flags, and flowers have been put up, while final construction work is being completed.

“I’m very excited, counting down the days… The atmosphere in Hanoi is vibrant, the streets are decorated and clean. The city’s thoughtful preparations will leave strong impressions on people nationwide and international visitors. I believe the celebration will be remarkable, not only to mark 80 years of independence but also to showcase our nation’s development,” said a Hanoian.

A child said, “On September 2, I’ll wake up early and go to Hoan Kiem Lake to watch the parade. I’ve asked my mom to buy me a red T-shirt and a flag to bring along.”

A special highlight this year will be the torch procession, the flag-raising ceremony, and the parade featuring contingents from the armed forces, mass organizations, and international military delegations. For months, participants have been training and rehearsing at sites across Hanoi.

“In addition to training on the field, we also practice supportive movements in the evenings. The determination across the unit is very high,” said a soldier.

An artilleryman said, “Our contingent has been training for four months. Officers and soldiers are in good physical condition.”

This year’s parade will also include representatives of Vietnam’s revolutionary press.

“It’s a great honor to participate in this national celebration. We feel proud to contribute to the success of such a significant event. For us journalists, this is also a chance to express our patriotism and national pride,” said Ha Phuong, a VOVWORLD editor.

The 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day is not only an occasion to honor the nation’s heroic milestones but also an opportunity to promote the image of Hanoi as a “Cultured - Civilized - Modern” capital.
