First Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival of ethnic groups in Central Highlands opens

(VOVWORLD) - One thousand artisans, actors, athletes, and people from the five Central Highlands provinces on Wednesday participated in a performance in Kon Tum Province to open the first Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival of ethnic groups in the region.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of Public Security To Lam said the Politburo has issued a decree which determines the building of an advanced Central Highlands culture characterized by traditional cultural identity, unity in diversity, respect for different cultural values between peoples, considering this the driving force and foundation for the region's development and international integration.

The festival is another step to further realize the Party's resolution and the cultural development strategy until 2030 and will truly become a venue to spread the regions people, culture and beauty, and offer an opportunity for local ethnic minorities to interact, meet, and exchange experiences,” said Mr. Lam, adding, “It will also expand opportunities to attract investment and tourism to the Central Highlands including Kon Tum province.”

The three-day festival features many fascinating events, including introduction of traditional festivals and rituals of the region’s ethnic groups, exhibition of traditional cultural products, and competitions of traditional games such as tug-of-war and stick pushing.
