First Dien Hong Awards honors 67 works

(VOVWORLD) -  Sixty-seven outstanding works wining the first Dien Hong Awards – the national press award on the National Assembly (NA) and People’s Councils – have been honored at a ceremony held in Hanoi on Friday. President Vo Van Thuong and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue attended the event.

In his address, NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue highlighted the role of Vietnamese journalism in tightening the bond between the people-elected agencies and people and voters nationwide.

He said press is an important, responsible argument channel. Mr. Hue spoke highly of the quality of entries and winning stories.

"Winning stories and entries embody the dedication, responsibility, trust and sincere sentiment of journalists. Their inspiration and widespread effect demonstrate the great support of the whole political system and people to Vietnam’s revolutionary press over the past nearly a century under the leadership of the Party," said Mr. Hue.

NA Vice Chairman Tran Thanh Man said the award ceremony will be held annually from this year.

The first National Press Prize on the National Assembly and People's Council, also known as Dien Hong prizes, honor authors with excellent journalistic works covering people’s representatives.

Since the awards were launched four months ago, organizers have received 3,328 entries from more than 170 press agencies across Vietnam. Parliamentary activities have been covered by journalists vividly and attractively.

The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) won one A prize and one B prize for radio, one B prize and one C prize for electronic newspaper, one B prize for television, and one Excellent Collective prize.
