(VOVworld) – A government decree on aquaculture development will help fishermen upgrade or build new ships and promote fisheries logistics services to boost offshore fishing. Nguyen Huy Dien, Deputy Director General of the Department of Fisheries, said Vietnamese authorities are working on a circular guiding the implementation of this decree. When the decree is adopted, the department will submit the circular to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Fishing vessels of at least 400 horsepower are being designed so fishermen will have abundant choices.

Several relevant ministries and sectors are discussing the allocation of the 800 million USD to ship building, insurance, and other assistance to fishermen.
