(VOVWORLD) - As of Monday, 25 people have been killed and 7 injured in floods in Vietnam’s northern mountain provinces, according to the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control.
A road section connecting Lai Chau and Lao Cai provinces is severely damaged by flash floods and landslides.

Dozens of houses have collapsed or been washed away, and hundreds of hectares of rice and other crops have been destroyed.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front has sent condolences to victims of floods in Lai Chau, Ha Giang, Yen Bai, and Lao Cai and asked the affected localities to promptly report on human and property losses to aid the relief effort.

In Lai Chau province, 22 people were reported dead or missing as of Monday afternoon. Sin Ho district had the highest number of deaths and missing.
Heavy rains have swept away or damaged more than 150 houses, 450 hectares of rice and other crops, and more than 40 irrigation plants and water systems.
Four cement bridges and roads have been severely damaged. Many localities are now isolated.
