Foreign leaders send condolences over Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong’s passing

(VOVWORLD) - Leaders of countries have sent telegrams of condolences to the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and people of Vietnam, over the recent passing of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the National Assembly, the President, and the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction, and the Lao people of all ethnic groups express their profound sorrow upon hearing of the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

With his passing, the Party, State, and people of Laos have lost an exceptionally close and dear comrade. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was a revolutionary leader of the new era and a successor to President Ho Chi Minh, who made significant, invaluable, and crucial contributions to strengthening and nurturing the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the Parties, States, and peoples of Laos and Vietnam.

The Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction, and the Lao people of all ethnic groups are confident that the Party, State, and people of Vietnam will turn this grief into a unified strength to continue progressing steadily and building Vietnam into an industrialized, modernized country, achieving the goals of a prosperous people, a strong country, and a democratic, fair, and civilized society.

The condolence message from the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people stated that with the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, they have lost a good comrade, a good brother, and a good friend. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was a steadfast Marxist and a great leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese people. He made outstanding contributions to Vietnam's national renewal, the socialism building in Vietnam, and the global socialist movement.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was a close comrade and sincere friend to the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people. He inherited and promoted the traditional "comrade and brother" friendship between the two Parties and countries of China and Vietnam. Together with General Secretary Xi Jinping, he elevated China-Vietnam relations to a Community of Shared Future of strategic significance, continuously advancing the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. China believes that the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese people will turn their sorrow into strength, achieving new and greater successes in their renewal efforts and the building of socialism.

Chairman of the Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen wrote that the legacy of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, a wise leader who devoted his entire life to the struggle for Vietnam's independence and peace and prosperity of the Vietnamese people, will be remembered by many future generations.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong enhanced the strong fraternal friendship with Cambodia and consistently made efforts over the years to enhance close cooperation not only between the Cambodian People's Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam but also between the two governments and peoples of the two countries.

In his letter, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet wrote that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong dedicated his whole life to the revolutionary cause of the Communist Party of Vietnam, for peace, development, and prosperity of Vietnam. Vietnam has lost an outstanding leader, and Cambodia has lost a good friend who always strived to contribute to the brotherly relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia.

In his letter, Cambodian National Assembly Chairman Khuon Sudary expressed gratitude for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's continuous dedication in promoting the strong relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as playing an important role in bringing the two countries closer together.

Cuban General Raúl Castro Ruz and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, sent their deepest condolences to the family of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the fraternal people of Vietnam. Cuba will always remember General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong as a great brother and a tireless promoter of the special friendly relationship between the two Parties, the two National Assemblies, the two Governments, and the two peoples.

In his letter, Russian President Vladimir Putin, wrote that Russia will remember General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong as a true friend who made significant personal contributions to the establishment and development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Moscow and Hanoi.

In a message of condolence Chairman of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko wrote that a great friend of Russia, an experienced political activist, and a renowned state leader has passed away. In his highest state position, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong made numerous contributions to strengthening the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and cooperation between the two countries' legislatures.

Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin affirmed that it is difficult to fully appreciate General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's immense contributions to strengthening the friendly relationship between the Russian Federation and Vietnam.
