The official AFC website called Vietnam’s goal by footballer Tran Minh Vuong a “brilliant freekick”. FOX Sports Asia said that despite losing to South Korea, Vietnam's team can be proud of its performance. Asian ESPN said the team showed great fighting spirit and its future looks promising.

South Korean media called the semifinal match between Korea and Vietnam a win-win, in which South Korea won with respect to the score, while the Vietnam players won in respect to an effort well beyond anyone's expectation.
