The Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, or PTI, was disqualified from running for political office for five years and was fined 100,000 rupees.
Khan’s lawyer Intezar Panjotha said police arrested Khan at his residence in Lahore and transferred him to the Pakistani capital, Islamabad the same day.
Ahead of the hearing, a large contingent of police was deployed outside the court premises with only lawyers permitted to enter the courtroom.
On July 3, Mr. Imran Khan alleged that the administration of current Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif “made a plan” to put him in jail. He also claimed that the gifts were sold “as per the rules” and declared in FDR.
