Vietnam's digital economy in 2021 was worth 21 billion USD, contributing 5% to the national GDP and increasing 7 times compared to 2015. This shows that despite the Covid-19 pandemic, digital transformation has helped the digital economy grow, according to the Vietnam-Asia Digital Transformation High Level Forum organized by Viet Nam Association for Software and IT Services (VINASA) on Wednesday in Hanoi.

According to the Forum’s data, the government has set a target that digital economy will account for 20% of GDP by 2025.

Nguyen Van Khoa, VINASA Chairman said: “To develop the digital economy quickly, we need the synergy of the whole political system, ministries, departments, and localities; but it will need a special participation of the IT and software business community in Vietnam, to jointly promote digital transformation. The business community will make efforts to develop platforms for quality digital transformation solutions. Next, all IT members will continue to invest and research quickly the technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and blockchain. Third, we will join forces in digital transformation for agencies, organizations and businesses across the country.”
