Prime Minister Edouard Philippe affirmed the government’s determination to fight anti-Semitism. He said that demonstrating is not enough, but it is necessary, adding that there will probably be legislation to severely punish anyone convicted of hostility to, prejudice, or discrimination against Jews.

Earlier, President Emmanuel Macron, National Assembly President Richard Ferrand, and Senate President Gerard Larcher laid a wreath at the Shoah Memorial in Paris, engraved with the names of 76,000 Jewish victims, including 11,000 children. The same day, President Macron visited a Jewish cemetery in Alsace where 80 graves were vandalized.
