He proposed four directions to heal France’s current social crisis. First is to comprehensively change France’s democratic institutions. The second relates to tax cuts which the French people have long wanted. Macron said the income tax will be significantly cut while also eliminating tax loopholes. But he said the French government will not re-establish the  ISF wealth tax at the demand of Yellow Vest protesters. Third, an ecological protection council will be set up and begin work in June. Finally, Macron said he wants to roll out a national plan under which a mechanism will ensure food subsidies for disadvantaged families. Macron underscored the need for better policies on handling refugees. He said he wants to kick off an annual parliamentary debate on immigration.
