Ambassador Duong Chi Dung said China’s deployment of its oil rig, military vessels and airplanes was a serious threat to the East Sea’s peace, security and navigation safety. French military attaché in China, Thailand and Vietnam, General Daniel Schaeffer, called for world rhetoric to prevent China’s infringement of national sovereignty in Vietnam, the Philippines and other regional countries: “It would be difficult for regional countries to hold talks if the Chinese claimed 9 dotted line did not disappear. Besides French and European expression of their concerns, we need the world action so that China cannot unilaterally impose the 9 dotted line doctrine. Despite ASEAN and China’s agreement on the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea, Chinese oil rig’s operation has seriously violated Vietnam’s national sovereignty and the principles of the DOC that China had signed.”
