G20 Summit agrees on economic growth and employment targets

(VOVworld) – The G20 leaders have issued a joint statement with the target of achieving the 2percent GDP growth in the next 5 years at the G20 summit which has concluded in Brisbane, Australia.

The statement also pointed out measures to boost investment, competitiveness, trade, employment and macro economic policies which will support development and growth as well as help reduce poverty and inequality. The statement confirmed the target to build a vigorous global economy and boost global institutions. G20 leaders worked out a number of measures to promote growth and generate more jobs such as the global infrastructure initiative, reducing difference between male and female laborers to 25 percent by 2025. They also agreed on an action plan to fight against corruption in the period 2015-2016 and enhance the power of the global financial organizations with priority given to the International Monetary Organization reform. Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said G20 members believed that if there’s strong cooperation, they can realize the targeted goals and do more for the people around the world.
