The G7 joint statement affirmed "solidarity with Poland, as well as Lithuania and Latvia" – countries that are struggling to cope with this wave of migration. The G7 said it believes Belarus is allowing migrants to move freely to the border area in response to sanctions against Belarus.

Belarus denied the accusation, calling it baseless. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said Western countries must take responsibility for these developments, because their actions have displaced people in many countries.
