Ties have soured between the two countries following Berlin’s criticism over Ankara’s suppressing activities after the failed coup and Turkey's arrest of Deniz Yucel, a reporter of Germany’s Die Welt, on charge on charges of propaganda and incitement to hatred. The tensions between Turkey and Germany are likely to escalate when German authorities cancelled many meetings of Turkish-German people in Gaggenau, Cologne, and Frechen. Turkey held those meetings to mobilize its voters to support constitutional reform. The same day, the German Foreign Minister said Berlin will do everything to maintain its dialogue with Ankara.
