(VOVWORLD) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Saturday officially announced talks with the Free Democrats (FDP) and the Green parties to form a coalition government.

Speaking at a meeting in Dresden city in eastern Germany, Merkel said the negotiations would be difficult but she hopes a coalition will be formed.
The negotiations will be carried out in a few days and a new coalition government will be established before the end of this year.
