Germany affirms EU's continued support for Ukraine

(VOVWORLD) - The European Union will continue to support Ukraine despite Hungary's opposition, according to an announcement released Thursday by the German Foreign Ministry.
Even without Hungary's support, the other 26 EU countries will do whatever is necessary, including offering 50 billion euros in support. A special summit is expected to take place in Brussels in January.

Information from other sources suggests that an alternative plan is being developed, which may include an agreement between 26 EU members without Hungary's participation, or guarantees from these countries to obtain loans from the European Commission.

However, a representative of the German Foreign Ministry said securing financial support from the EU budget remains a priority for his government. That plan can only be realized with the consensus of all 27 EU members.
