(VOVworld) – Germany's Federal Intelligence Service (BND) has warned that Western countries are facing the biggest ever terrorist threat mainly posed by the Islamic State.

Under its purportedly revised strategy, the IS plans to launch direct attacks on western countries.

According to the BND, IS terrorist attacks on Western countries, the execution of hostages, or mass killings aim to incite hatred among the Muslim world, and cause social division and disorder in western societies.

IS has made full use of the Internet and social networks for its communications. The BND has called on the US and Western countries to strengthen military intervention into Iraq and Syria to combat IS.
