Google honors Suong Nguyet Anh, Vietnam’s first female editor in chief

Suong Nguyet Anh, whose real name was Nguyen Thi Khue, was born in 1864 to poet Nguyen Dinh Chieu.

She initiated “Nữ Giới Chung”, the first Vietnamese newspaper for women, which promoted feminism in Vietnam, liberated and created social standings for women.

Suong Nguyet Anh was also a poet and supporter of education development movements. She died of illness on December 12, 1992 at the age of 58.

A street in Ho Chi Minh City and other localities is named after her.
